Yelahanka to have the Biggest Shopping Mall in South India-The Galleria
Since past few months there is a demolition drive going on in the 'Standard Brick Factory', for those who don't know this, this is a very old pre-independence Brick Factory, Locals say that it was visited once by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, located right in the Entrance of Yelahanka and at the junction of Doddabalapur Road and Bellary Road in front of Yelahanka Police Station, The Factory has been cleared up except for the magnificent chimney and it has been relocated to the adjacent land, soon this Brick Factory will be replaced by a Mammoth sized 1 Million Sq.ft Shopping Mall called "The Galleria"
It is good that the chimney has been retained as it is of great importance for the people of Yelahanka like me, something which is a part of Yelahanka's Identity and it proudly announces that we are going to enter our town soon.
And about the mall hear it from the developers mouth 'RMZ Corp' who has named it as "The Galleria" .
find below what the Developers plan to have in Galleria, sourced from there website:
“The Galleria is more than just a mall; it’s a unique lifestyle experience. Galleria is flanked by an 80 ft brick chimney, on a unique site heritage dating back to India’s freedom struggle. Its international facade makes Galleria a truly multi- experiential retail and leisure destination.
This 1 million sqft destination mall provides a delightfully different shopping experience. With its 9 screen PVR cinema, 1 lac sqft Hyper city hypermarket, and with Shoppers Stop, West side and Debenhams as anchor department stores, extensive food offerings and over 200 stores you will be spoilt for choice ensuring that every visit of yours is like your first one – full of memories, experiences and moments.
The strategic location of Galleria in the heart of a large catchment population, midway from the city centre and the new international airport will be critical in driving visitors to the mall. In addition, Galleria also has superior connectivity with the Metro rail project.”
