The most-ambitious Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project in Bangalore got the cabinet’s approval. Touching at Rs. 3000 crores, it has now become the most expensive project so far. BDA has begun the land acquisition process. Since cost of the land has boomed in the city’s periphery, the compensation component is very heavy. At several places, compensation has crossed Rs. 80 lakh per acre. Also the road component has a lot of underpasses and changeovers, which have to be built as per international standards. The road, mooted a decade ago, is a 116-km ring connecting the city at the periphery. About 11.5 km away from the outer ring road, the PRR will connect Tumkur road, Magadi road, Mysore road, Bellary road, Old Madras road, Hosur road and Kanakapura road.
